There is a Fort McDowell in the Yavapai Nation reservation in Arizona, and a Fort McDowell on Angel Island in San Fancisci Bay. North Carolina and West Virginia have a McDowell County. General Stonewall Jackson dislodged a numerically superior Union army under Schenck and Milroy from the Village of McDowell, Virginia, on 8 May 1962. Missouri boasts a McDowell Township, Lake McDowell, McDowell Bridge, McDowell Mill, and McDowell Dam.
